Calm

a picture I made last week when I needed to find a calm place and put my thoughts in order.

little jewels from the States!

I was really touched to hear that a primary school in USA did an arts month based on my collages, here are some of the works made by 3rd grade students, I love them!
"The Giant Fishman and the Apple Tree" By Ty Montoy
"Are You Happy?" By Mackenzie Lundberg
"Nick Transformed into a Chipmunk" By Marcus Giuliani

illustrations for CD and DVD "Viegli", a music project with some fine jewels of Latvian music and literature.

Last month was a very very exciting one, as I was asked to produce illustrations for a new music collaboration between colossal Latvian poet Imants Ziedonis ( a very influential person in my life, I grew up with his beautiful and challenging writing) and some of the finest jewels of Latvian music ( Renars Kaupers, Janis Holsteins- Upmanis, Mara Upmane -Holsteina, Raimonds Gusarevs, Karlis Kazaks and Janis Strapcans).
Here is a screenshot of the project's website, I will post the illustrations as soon as the CD and the film is released on May1st. You can listen to the songs here: http://www.fondsviegli.lv/albums-viegli

kitchen designs - tea towels

Me and my friend and artist Anna Lewis, have started to experiment a bit with designs for kitchen products. Here are my first two samples for tea towels. The originals of both designs are hand made, using colored paper and ink.

I've been experimenting a little bit more with collage, and this is what I made last night. It came out of simple conversation with mr Benjamin Kitchen. I was basicly getting too excited that spring is near, the daffodils are shooting out of the defrosted ground and the winter is over, when he looked at me and said: Darling, there's still two long months of cold winter to come. Ok. I'll wait a little longer.
